Staff/Senior Software Engineer

Staff Software Engineer

About the role

This role is both an individual contributor as well as a technical leader.

  • Lead by example delivering high quality product improvements that meet or exceed all internal standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, promote quality and mentor team members in identifying and resolving complex problems.
  • Lead and evangelise standard technologies and methodologies that benefit the team and business. Adopt a security mindset and educate peers on security matters. Architect solutions using well accepted design patterns to allow for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.
  • Proactively identify significant potential improvements to the product and technical health, framing these in business terms that enable them to be prioritised against other product improvements. You also help other people do this.
  • You participate in longer term planning - always considering the impact to customers and the business as a whole. You promote economic thinking and enable others to make timely and smart decisions.
  • You are often a voice of guidance for your peers. You regularly give and seek feedback, helping your squad collectively improve.
  • You are continuously expanding your own understanding of technology, and sharing that knowledge with others. You mentor others in an open, respectful and empathetic manner.
  • You have a bias for action, demonstrating your own high velocity and helping the broader team ship more over time.
  • This role is not intended to be a people/line manager, although we would like to encourage people that may be interested in doing that to apply as well.
